The peacock opens its feathers when the rains come, which is why it has long stood in India for grace and for the arrival of celebration. The Mayurika Jhumka sets it at the ear as a peacock-shaped stud, and hangs a quilted dome beneath.

The quilting on the dome is raised by hand in a regular pattern, so the surface breaks light into small facets instead of reflecting it flatly. Below, a layered pearl fringe falls in rows rather than a single line, which is what gives these their particular weight of movement.

At 43 g the Mayurika Jhumka is among the more substantial pieces we make, and it shows. Wear it for weddings, receptions and festive celebrations, with a silk saree or lehenga, where its movement and detail can be properly seen.
