Filigree is patient work. Fine silver wire is coiled and set into place scroll by scroll, and there is no hurrying it. The Aurelia toe ring carries that patience on a very small canvas: delicate scrollwork running the width of a slim oxidised band.

Because the scale is so small, every curve has to be exact, and the oxidised finish is what makes the work visible, sinking into the spaces between the wires so the pattern reads clearly against the skin.

At just 4.1 g the Aurelia is among the lightest pieces we make, and one of the easiest to wear every day. Lovely on its own, and lovelier stacked with a plainer band alongside it.

• Avoid contact with perfume, deodorant, hairspray, water and household chemicals; wear jewellery last and remove it first.
• Gently wipe after each wear with a soft, dry cloth to preserve shine.
• For oxidised silver, do not use silver-polish liquid or harsh dips, as these strip the antique black patina. Clean only with a soft dry cloth.
• Remove before sleeping, bathing, swimming, exercising and household work.
